ABOUT ME

I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate the messy and overwhelming struggles that come up through relationship conflict and life transitions. It is in adversity, whether personal loss, trauma, or relationship struggles, that I believe we have the greatest opportunity to find out who we truly are, what we really believe and the type of people we eventually want to become. I aim to provide an environment that is both supportive and challenging – where my clients feel known and understood, while still feeling pushed to find new ways of viewing problems and healthier ways of coping.

Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University utilized a developmental framework to understand human behavior.  This training set me up to understand and to counsel children and adults of all ages.  In the early days of my counseling career, I worked with children and teens in school-based settings.  As I moved into outpatient settings and began incorporating more family therapy into my work with children and teens, I turned my focus to parent consultation, family therapy, couples therapy, and individual therapy with adults as well.  I have a special interest in parenting issues and the complexity that comes with sharing custody across multiple homes. Through various services, such as therapy and mediation, I help parents support their children through adversity and help separated or divorced parents co-parent or parallel-parent effectively from different homes.

Originally from Atlanta, by way of Nashville and a stop in Minneapolis, I am a New England transplant. In addition to my professional experience as a counselor, I spent four years in the music industry, three years as a professional photographer, and a couple more years in the non-profit world. These varied life experiences bring a unique and creative perspective to my work. I am also a mom to two young kiddos.

Meet Laini, my partner in therapy. For clients who are comfortable with dogs, I bring her along to in-person therapy sessions occasionally. She is also always by my feet during online sessions. Laini is a hypoallergenic ball of fluff whose name means "soft & tender” and she’s still going strong at 15 years old.
